Roy was a career soldier, serving in the Army for 26 years. He grew up in rural Wisconsin, and now calls Wichita, Kansas, home.
He is a member of Surviving Spouse Council, Membership Chair for the Surviving Spouse Virtual Chapter, Surviving Spouse Liaison for the Air Capital Chapter, Treasurer and Membership Chair for a chapter of the 82nd Airborne Division Association, and he has membership in the American Legion and 173rd Airborne Association.
As an Army officer, he trained, led, and cared for soldiers and their families. As a Junior ROTC instructor, he mentored and provided guidance to high school students. As a financial advisor, he helped military families make smart choices with their money. As a surviving spouse liaison, he assists surviving spouses.
Roy has been a member of MOAA/TROA for over 30 years and the Air Capital Chapter’s Surviving Spouse Liaison since 2019. Roy said, “It only took one funeral to understand the significance of the position.”
Roy is not a surviving spouse. He has been married for 48 years and has a daughter and two granddaughters, and he helps with child care three days a week.
