MOAA held the Annual Jeff Peck Memorial Golf Classic at the Westfields Golf Club in Clifton, Va., on May 21. The top foursome was Walt Szanfranski, Erik Rasmussen, Brig. Gen. Roy Robinson, USA (Ret.), and Lt. Col. Robert Jakubek, USA (Ret.), but the winners will be the military children who’ll benefit from $70,000 in donations toward MOAA’s higher education programs.
This event is named in honor of Cmdr. Jeffrey Austin Peck, USN (Ret), the former director of the MOAA Scholarship Fund who passed from pancreatic cancer in 2005.

“This was our 16th year hosting the Golf Classic to support military children, and we look forward to continuing this fine tradition,” says Andrea Rand, Executive Director of the MOAA Scholarship Fund.
The $70,000 raised by the event will provide interest-free loans and scholarships to military children pursuing undergraduate degrees through the MOAA Educational Assistance Program and Scholarship Fund.
MOAA established the MOAA Scholarship Fund in 1948 to help provide educational assistance benefits to children of military families. It supports one of MOAA’s founding principles: education is the cornerstone of a strong democracy. The Scholarship Fund is supported by donations from MOAA members, MOAA Councils and Chapters, and corporations; learn about donation options here.
“This an enormously successful program,” says Col. Mike Turner, USAF (Ret.), MOAA Vice President of Development. “We’ve given out over $140 million in scholarships and no-interest grants since 1948 to about 15,000 military children.”
