Williams retired after 25 years of service, including stints in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Service runs in the family: Williams' two brothers also retired from the military, and his mother lived by what she called the ARK: Acts of Random Kindness to help others in need.

LATEST EFFORTS
As community outreach and veterans affairs officer of  MOAA's Treasure Coast (Fla.) Chapter, Williams has partnered with area agencies to serve thousands of meals each month to the area's homeless and those facing food insecurity. For the last seven years, Williams has assisted with a mobile food pantry, providing a hot meal, a bag lunch, and hygiene kits at parks and homeless camps every Thursday. A stand-down twice a year also provides veterans with access to medical and dental services.

During the pandemic, Williams helped facilitate more than 20 of  MOAA's COVID-19 Emergency Relief grants for veterans struggling with food, rent, and other financial insecurities. His next project is to provide laundry services to homeless people who lack access to washers and dryers.

HOW HIS SERVICE SUPPORTS MOAA'S MISSION
Williams' selfless actions and commitment to his community show he never stops serving.

'Every branch of the military makes a commitment to leave no man behind. I see this work in the same light.'
