Lt. Col. Joshua Koncar enlisted in the Army Reserve in August 2001. He served as an operations noncommissioned officer in Operation Iraqi Freedom from March 2003 to April 2004. He attained the rank of staff sergeant before receiving a direct commission to second lieutenant in 2007.
As a logistician, he has served in various leadership and broadening assignments. In addition to his service in Iraq, Lt. Col. Koncar completed an overseas service tour in Germany from 2012 to 2014 and an operational deployment to Jordan in support of Operation Spartan Shield from June 2019 to March 2020.
A former congressional fellow, Lt. Col. Koncar helped secure several National Defense Authorization Act provisions for servicemembers and veterans. He currently serves as a Military Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Transportation and Logistics in Cambridge.
Lt. Col. Koncar holds a Master of Professional Studies Degree in Legislative Affairs from The George Washington University, summa cum laude; a Master of Arts Degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College with highest distinction; and a Master of Science in Management from Liberty University. He is an undergraduate of Thiel College located in Greenville, Pa., and attained a certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI Fellowship.
He is a recipient of MOAA's Colonel Paul W. Arcari Meritorious Service Award.
